Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

All the answers to your questions about our locations.

Where are Excelia's locations?

Excelia is present in 4 cities across France: La Rochelle, Tours, Orléans, and Paris-Cachan. Each offers a distinct atmosphere — ocean, culture, the Loire Valley, or proximity to Paris — allowing you to choose the environment that best suits your lifestyle.

How do I choose the city that suits me best (setting aside the programmes themselves)?

Ask yourself 4 simple questions: Do you prefer the sea, nature, a large city, or a student-oriented town? Do you want to get around mainly on foot and by bike, or by public transport? Are you looking for a flat-share or a studio? Do you want a very lively city or something a little quieter? Your answers will help you identify the city that best matches your way of life.

What does daily student life actually look like?

The aim is to provide an environment where you can focus on your studies but also take a step back, meet people, and feel supported with the practicalities of daily life — settling in, healthcare, getting around, and integration. Each institution offers workspaces and social areas tailored to students' needs.

Are there societies and clubs to help you settle in quickly?

Yes — Excelia has more than 50 clubs and societies. They are an excellent way to make friends, enjoy an active student life, and get stuck into projects beyond your coursework. These groups cover every area: sport, culture, humanitarian causes, and entrepreneurship.

How do you find accommodation when you arrive at an Excelia location?

Excelia has a dedicated accommodation page and a partnership with Studapart to help you find somewhere to live that suits your budget and preferences. The school also provides resources and guidance to make your search as straightforward as possible.

What accommodation options are available (studio, flat-share, halls of residence…)?

In practice, you can look at studios, flat-shares, student halls, or sometimes lodgings with a local family, depending on your budget and the city. Excelia presents these options via its accommodation page and its partner platform to help you make the right choice.

When should you start looking for accommodation?

As early as possible. Excelia stresses that the search can take time and publishes practical advice to help you streamline the process. Ideally, begin your search as soon as your offer has been confirmed.

How do you get around day to day in each city (without a car)?

It varies, but the goal is to manage student life using sustainable transport (on foot or by bike) and/or public transport. Each city has a suitable network: cycling in La Rochelle, trams in Tours and Orléans, and the RER in Paris-Cachan.

Is there a cultural scene and social life in the different cities?

Yes — each with a very different character. La Rochelle hosts events and festivals such as the Francofolies. Tours and Orléans offer historic city centres and the Loire riverbanks. Paris-Cachan provides easy access to the full range of cultural and social life across Île-de-France.

Can you visit a location before making your choice?

Yes, at an Open Day or an immersion day. These visits allow you to discover the facilities, meet students and teaching staff, and picture yourself in your future student life.
