Excelia Business School is raising students’ awareness of climate issues through Silartik, an immersive game developed in partnership with the Polar Witness Foundation.
When climate becomes a game: Excelia Business School rolls out Silartik
Through Silartik, Excelia places climate at the heart of education. A game designed to explore the balance between the environment, the economy, and geopolitics. An original experience to develop responsible and committed managers.
Launched in autumn 2025, Silartik immerses 1,000 students from Excelia Business School in a simulation inspired by the Arctic. The game challenges them to face the realities of climate change, resource management, and global geopolitical tensions through collaborative and realistic scenarios.
A playful experience to understand the challenges of the real world
Developed by the Polar Witness Foundation, Silartik places students in the role of Arctic Council members. They must negotiate, cooperate, and make decisions in the face of climate disruption and conflicting economic interests. This interactive approach helps them grasp global challenges while encouraging collective thinking.
A learning partnership with the Polar Witness Foundation
Committed to protecting polar regions, the Polar Witness Foundation has been collaborating with Excelia since 2023. Together, they have enhanced the game to meet the educational needs of higher education, introducing an adapted pace, a teaching guide, and the training of 30 facilitators. Excelia thus becomes the first leading business school to integrate Silartik into its curriculum.
Developing responsible managers through experiential learning
This initiative reflects Excelia’s commitment to developing managers capable of understanding ecological transition and acting responsibly. Through Silartik, students strengthen their analytical skills, teamwork, and ability to build arguments based on concrete evidence.
Rooted in Excelia’s experiential learning model, the game promotes active and lasting learning that combines reflection, collaboration, and collective engagement with academic rigour. This approach is fully aligned with the philosophy of the Case Innov Lab, Excelia’s pedagogical innovation hub, which designs immersive case studies to place students at the heart of real-world decision-making.
Silartik thus joins other flagship initiatives developed by the School, such as the edutainment platform ExceliaPrime and the Game Lab, dedicated to creating interactive and engaging learning tools that strengthen student involvement. All these programmes embody Excelia’s commitment to combining academic excellence with experimentation, turning knowledge into practical and sustainable skills.
With over 3,400 players already in schools, local authorities, and businesses, Silartik naturally extends this experiential approach. It reflects the vision of a school that uses play as a powerful tool to understand climate challenges and foster international cooperation, training future leaders able to combine performance with responsibility in a changing world.
