Prof. Pierre Baret holds a Doctorate in Applied Economics from the University of Grenoble II (Université Pierre Mendès France) and an HDR in Management Science from the University of Poitiers (HDR - Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches: qualification authorising research-active Faculty to advise doctoral students or oversee research).
As an expert in the implementation and evaluation of sustainable initiatives within organisations, Pierre Baret is a Professor at Excelia Business School, where he teaches Economics, Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He also heads up the IRSI (Institute for Sustainability through Innovation) and the Evaluation and Assessment Chair. Furthermore, he jointly manages the Social Responsibility and ISO 26000 Chair and is in charge of the Group's CSR area of research.

In addition to his work within Excelia, Prof. Pierre Barret is a member of the CEREGE (EA 1722 of the CNRS), where he is in charge of the area of research ‘Governance and Sustainable Development’. He is also Vice-President of ADERSE, member of the Editorial Committee of the ROR (a journal for sustainable organisations), member of RIODD, as well as being a member of several research committees (academic journals, research associations and symposia).

He has organised and co-organised several research symposia and is the author of numerous articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, for which he has coordinated several special issues, as well as author of collective works, book chapters and lectures.
