    The BBA International programme will fully prepare you to work internationally in an array of management careers. The length of the programme (4 years) is in harmony with international Bachelor degrees. Through a host of academic and professional experiences, more than half of your study time will be spent abroad.

    The various courses, the wealth of international experiences, and the multicultural study environment and teams ensure that each of you will have the opportunity of studying the different academic and managerial models.     2/3 INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT AND 1/3 GEOPOLITICS

    Why study Geopolitics in a Business School? Because in a competitive international environment, all managers must be able to:

    • understand the international context in which Geopolitics is evolving in order to have a better command of decision criteria

    NEW FOR THE 2018/2019 ACADEMIC YEAR: POSSIBILITY OF A WORK¬-STUDY TRACK IN YEAR 4

    La Rochelle Business School’s BBA International offers students the possibility of a work-study track in Year 4 of the programme, with a format of 1 week School-based followed by 3 weeks company-based, spread over a 12-month period.

    The BBA International is open to students who have:

    • graduated from High School or international equivalent
    • already completed 1 year of post-High School education
    • already completed 2 years of post-High School education

    After graduating from this programme, students can choose to further their studies with a Specialised Master, Year 2 of a university Master qualification or a Masters of Science, either in France or abroad.
    La Rochelle Business School’s BBA programme will ensure the world is your oyster by offering you a strong academic education on its La Rochelle campus, coupled with a multitude of varied international experiences.

    4-year Programme (open to students with a High School qualification or international equivalent)

    Year 1 - Acquiring the fundamentals: Companies, their organisation and their markets

    This year focuses on acquiring management fundamentals. In addition to the core course modules, you will have the opportunity of many new and varied experiences and begin to discover the world of business.

    During Year 1 you will study 2 geopolitical zones, Europe and Africa/Middle East, in order to develop an understanding of the political, economic and social issues they are facing. For each zone you will work on a case study of a real company.

    Programme highlights

    Learning Expedition

    During the first semester, you will spend a week in a European city to learn about the country’s political, economic and cultural systems. What you experience during this week will serve as a common theme throughout the year.

    HUMACITÉ© PROJECT or CAP'ENTREPRISE INTERNSHIP

    You will finish the year with a project of your choice: either an 8-week voluntary project (Humacité©) or an 8-week company-based internship carried out in your home country in order to learn about and understand the company and its operations.

    Focus on Humacité©: A 2-month social, humanitarian or civic voluntary project to help you to understand, undertake and manage differently. This project, known as Humacité©, is one of the unique features of Excelia Group, which is committed to educating students to become future managers who are both responsible and conscious of the importance of their role in society. The project can be carried out in an NGO or an association, either in France or abroad.

    Year 2 - Understanding the product life-cycle: From product conception to production

    This year focuses on the management of international environmental operations as well as preparing you for future expatriation. You will...

    • discover the main challenges facing companies abroad and look at how they operate
    • manage complex projects
    • improve your linguistic skills, which will not only help you in your language studies and exams, but also assist you in securing a job internationally

    In Year 2, you will study another geopolitical zone, Asia/Oceania, a region with very strong socio-cultural, economic and political divides.

    CAP À L'INTERNATIONAL (INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP)

    You will head abroad for a company-based internship of between 12 and 16 weeks, undertaking an operational project and learning about other managerial practices.

    EXPATRIATION WORKSHOPS

    Designed to teach you about intercultural management, these workshops will not only prepare you for the Cap à l’international internship abroad but also for your academic expatriation, which is a compulsory part of Year 3. You will learn about the different rules to be respected in the country you have chosen, as well as the differences in teaching methods.

    STUDENT CLUBS AND ASSOCIATIONS

    For the BBA International, being part of a club or an association is compulsory as it enables you to develop your managerial skills. This forms one of the programme’s modules and is evaluated at the end of the year. There is a choice of some 50 clubs and associations at Excelia Group that will put your skills into action... all within a secure and professional framework.

    PREPARATION FOR YOUR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN YEAR 3

    The aim of this project is to assist a French or foreign company in its international development. Tasks may involve microeconomics (e.g. resolving an operational problem linked to exports) or macroeconomics (e.g. study of competitors). Preparation for the project takes place in Year 2, enabling you to carry out the project in Year 3, in the country you have chosen for your academic expatriation.

    Examples of projects:

    • Market research on a foreign country
    • Study of export procedures, or export analysis
    • Business creation project analysis
    • Competitor analysis of a target market
    • Researching potential partners

    Year 3 - Adapting to new cultures

    This year is dedicated to academic expatriation in order to give you a complete understanding of the managerial practices in other cultures.

    • further develop your knowledge of the main operating areas and functions of companies, from an international angle (contextualisation)
    • acquire a better understanding of international relations

    You can choose between spending:

    • one year at a university abroad with the possibility of gaining a double degree
    • two 6-month periods in 2 different universities abroad, either in the same country or in two different countries
    BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

    During your expatriation, you will head up a project for a company (prepared in Year 2) to explore potential development opportunities in the country or location where you are based.
    The salary received for this project will help finance your expatriation.

    • Work-study Track: focussing on practical experience, with complete immersion in a company’s international department for a period of 12 months on a professional training contract (format from September to September, 1 week School-based, 3 weeks company-based)

    Through your end-of-programme internship, you are now ready for the world of work. You may however choose to further your studies at a university or business school in France or abroad. La Rochelle Business School will assist you with your choice and help you with the associated administration to facilitate the next stage of your life.

    Heading abroad, you will carry out a key end-of studies or pre-employment internship, enabling you to develop your sense of initiative and sense of responsibility in an environment that is both culturally and economically different.

    Dissertation

    This is a compulsory element for your degree to be awarded. A tutor will assist you throughout your work, from helping you select your subject to providing guidance with research methodology.

    Joining the programme in Year 2

    After one year of post-High School education, you can enrol on the programme. However, before joining the rest of the students, you will need to do a preparation course. Carried out via e-learning with an 'e-dossier', this course covers the principal subjects that were studied in Year 1.

    At the start of the year, you will carry out a Business Game enabling you to:

    • prove your understanding and acquisition of the subjects covered in your 'e-dossier'
    • meet your fellow Year-2 students

    At the end of the Business Game, the Year 2 programme will take on an international dimension with the aim of:

    • discovering the main challenges facing companies abroad and looking at how they operate

    DISSERTATION

    This is a compulsory element for your degree to be awarded and is the main theme of your last year. It can focus on either your choice of specialisation or a theme stemming from your end-of-year company-based internship. In addition to guidance with research methodology, a tutor will assist you throughout your work.

    Programme in 2 years (open to students with two years of post-High School education or international equivalent)

    Carrying out the programme in 2 years is possible for students who have already studied in higher education for 2 years since graduating from High School. Spread over 4 semesters, all courses are taught in English, using an interactive and participative approach to teaching. School-based periods will be alternated with periods of professional immersion abroad. Those students joining in Year 3 come from France and abroad, making for a multicultural year group.

    Joining the programme in Year 3

    After two year of post-High School studies, you can enrol on the programme. However, beforehand, you need to do a preparation course via e-learning. Using an ‘e-dossier’, this course covers the principal subjects that were studied in Years 1 and 2. During the first two weeks of the programme, your lecturers will review all the fundamentals.

     

    Semester 1: Core course modules on the La Rochelle campus

    • French students head to a partner university abroad for their academic expatriation
    • International students remain on the La Rochelle campus, following a specific study track together with other students from our partner universities

  • The teaching methods used for the BBA International focus on active participation and necessitate your full commitment and involvement throughout the duration of your studies. The course involves periods of theory and periods of practice, and time on campus will be alternated with time spent in companies, primarily abroad. By the end of your programme, you will have gained some two years’ international experience of a very diverse nature including a Learning Expedition, a Business Development Project, internships and academic expatriation.

    Professional experience

    Each year of study includes a professional experience (company-based internship), carried out in France or abroad. From your very first to your very last internship, you will constantly develop your skills and become more and more autonomous in managing the projects assigned to you. By the end of your studies, you will have completed a minimum of 14 months’ company-based experience and will be ready to enter the world of work.


    International

    You can choose between spending:

    • one year at a university abroad with the possibility of gaining a double degree
    • two 6-month periods in 2 different universities abroad, either in the same country or in two different countries

    When you study abroad, lessons will be taught in English, German, Italian or Spanish depending upon the chosen university. Whilst you are abroad, you benefit from a dual support network through...
