Biography

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE - LISA MC ALLISTER

Lisa Mc Allister is Director of Accreditations and Continuous Improvement and Lecturer in Strategy, with the Department of Strategy. Lisa has worked extensively in strategy development for regional and national economic sectors, organisations and enterprises. Lisa is former Chief Executive of the Irish Government Agency for the economic regional development of the Western Region of Ireland - The Western Development Commission (WDC). Before her appointment to that position in 2002, she had been a Government appointed member of the board there since 1997. During her professional career, she has been a board director of numerous organisations, such as Ireland West Airport Knock, Irish government initiatives, businesses, community and voluntary representative groups. Prior to her career in public administration, she was General Manager of the Sligo based import, distribution and wholesale company in hardware, agriculture and building products - Herron and Son Ltd. Lisa worked in the voluntary and community sector in her early career, having headed up the Council for the West and the Euro Info Centre (former DGXXIII of the European Union) based at Sligo Chamber of Commence and Industry. From Ireland, she is an honours science graduate of University College Dublin (UCD) where she has also graduated with a Masters in Rural Development.
